Is Dunathan Consulting a good fit for me?

What can I expect if I hire Dunathan Consulting? What’s the process like?

Our approach is focused on quickly understanding how you and your current staff handle your operations today. We interview you first to begin assessing operational strengths as well as areas that may need improvement. Then we identify key staff members to talk to, based on our initial findings.

We look for areas where the processes and systems being used are time-consuming or less effective than they could be. We track how information flows through the organization, to make sure that each person has the information they need to do their job well. We look for opportunities to make the most of your existing staff, which may involve cross-training or assigning new duties. And we also keep an eye out for potential risks, such as insufficient insurance, inadequate legal agreements, or inconsistent HR practices.

Once we’ve done our initial assessment, we review our recommendations with you to prioritize changes and discuss options for implementation. You’ll be informed and in control during the whole process.

I’m not sure what kind of help I need; I just know that I’m tired of putting out fires.

No problem!  We’re happy to review your operations to identify what’s going on.  Once we do an initial assessment, we’ll review the results with you and recommend priority areas to focus on.

You’ll decide what to focus on first, and we’ll work on cleaning up and organizing the problem areas you’ve selected.  We’ll meet with you regularly to discuss what we’re doing and what’s been accomplished, and you can pause, stop, or redirect us at any point.

After we’ve gotten things running smoothly, if you want a regular review to keep your operations on track as you grow, we’ll propose a retainer-based plan to check on things every three, six, or twelve months.

I have a specific project I need help with, such as preparing my business for sale or transfer, implementing a new line of business, or building a strategic plan and budget for the new year.

Great, we love tackling projects with motivated owners!  We can help with a wide variety of projects that involve changes to your operations. Schedule a free consultation with us and we can evaluate your needs and propose a scope of work for your project.

I’m happy to do the work myself, if I could just get some guidance on exactly what to do.

We’re happy to provide regular advice and guidance as you work through a project yourself.  This is a cost-effective way to make sure your efforts are successful, and you’ll learn a lot along the way. In this situation, we typically start out with a few intensive meetings to get things going, and then settle into a regular schedule, meeting with the owner every one to two weeks to review progress and strategize on the owner’s next steps.

I’m a solopreneur and I don’t think I can afford your consulting services, but I need help.  What do I do?

We know that even the smallest business still needs good processes for managing their finances or getting ready to hire their first employee.  That’s why we’ve collected some helpful resources on our Resources for Startups page. We’re always working to add more information, and we welcome suggestions.

We’ve also developed the first of what we hope will be a series of online courses on selected topics, designed for you to understand and handle your business finances, your legal and tax structure, your first hire, and more. So head over to the Resources for Startups page, check out our course and other resources, and submit your ideas for future content!
